Holiday Style for Little Girls
Happy almost holiday time! I’m Chelsee, the guest blogger for Once Upon A Child as well as my blog, The House of Hood, where I write about all things motherhood, travel, fashion, home decor, and how to throw the best parties all while keeping your little ones front of mind. Today, I’m sharing our favorite holiday style ideas. I love dressing our girls in holiday attire throughout December, so we try to stock up early to get the most use.
The girls' styles are fairly simple for the month of December, with a few frilly holiday dresses for special events. Around the holidays we take the girls to the Nutcracker and let them get totally decked out. Holiday attire is also easy to find at children's resale shops because it’s typically only worn once, and the quality tends to be great! We try to resell our holiday clothing the following year since it’s usually in nearly perfect condition.
Holiday Attire Staples
We typically get a few solid holiday colored dresses that they can wear throughout the month. I'll throw on a vest, cardigan or jacket to change up the look. Keeping with solid colored clothing allows you to get more use. I love getting red items for the girls because they transition into February for Valentine's Day!
Our girls LOVE dressing up, so we got them red tutu leotards which surprisingly, have been used a ton! This is a fun addition for the month of December for dance classes, parties and more. Pair them with leggings and a jean jacket, and you have a festive holiday outfit. McKinlee wore the tan tutu dress to the Nutcracker last year. We paired it with a cardigan, tights and ballet flats, and she got a lot of compliments! It was very unique and unlike anything else we saw. It's also a fun dress up outfit, so she loves playing in it.
We usually stock up on holiday pajamas early to get the most use. I love a good holiday pajama, so I pick up 2 or 3 pairs for the month. The forest themed pajamas are great for the holidays, but aren’t too 'Christmassy' so the girls can wear them all winter. The pink flannel pajamas are one of my favorites! I love this style on the girls.
Red, white and holiday plaid bows are a must throughout the month of December. Another staple is red shoes! Madison wore the heck out of her red Mary Janes and red rain boots during the holiday season last year.
