Favorite Smoothie Recipes

January 15, 2019

I hope everyone had an amazing holiday season and a happy New Year! Chelsee here again from The House of Hood Blog sharing some of my go-to protein smoothies. The best part, is my two girls beg for sips of these smoothies! I hide things like spinach, chia seeds, flax, etc in them and they have no clue. As a busy mom of two toddlers, it’s often difficult to get in the recommended protein into your diet. I’ve found that if I don’t have a protein smoothie, I miss my goal. I look for a protein powder that is sweetened with stevia (my favorite non-sugar sweetener!), and I personally like a vegan protein such as pea protein. I find that it is easier on my stomach. Here are my favorite smoothie recipes!

Berry Blast

Ingredients:
Vanilla Protein Powder of choice
1 cup frozen mixed berries (feel free to use fresh if they're in season!)
1 cup frozen blueberries
1/2 frozen banana
1 tbl chia seeds
1 scoop superfoods
1.5 cup water
1 cup ice
Blend and enjoy!

Tropical Green Monster

Ingredients:
Vanilla protein powder of choice
1 cup frozen pineapple
1 cup frozen mango
1 cup greens (I use Trader Joe's Organic Power Greens)
1.5 cup water
1 cup ice
Blend and enjoy!

Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana

Ingredients:
Chocolate protein powder of choice
1 frozen banana (I always freeze mine because it makes the smoothie extra thick!)
1 tbl powdered peanut butter - I use Tru-Nut
1 tbl chia seeds
1.5 cup water
1 cup ice
Blend and enjoy!

To make your smoothies extra thick and creamy (like a milkshake!), add 1 frozen banana. Adding this makes it almost taste like ice cream. I use a Ninja hand blender, and I find it’s the perfect size.

Lately, I’ve been adding in ashwagandha powder which is an amazing adaptogen (helps you sleep better and helps lower stress hormones). You can’t even taste it! Make sure to check out our blog here! Thanks for reading!
