Celebrities give to families in need
Mom-to-be Jessica Simpson is using the popularity of her girls' clothing line to help families in need. The celeb has announced that her Jessica Simpson Girls (JSG) clothing collection will hold a t-shirt design contest in which the proceeds from the sale of the winning shirt will go to the non-profit charity Baby Buggy, according to CelebrityBabyScoop.com. The shirt will be sold as part of JSG's back-to-school collection.
According to the website, this isn't the first time that JSG has aligned itself with Baby Buggy, an organization that provides families in need with essential equipment, products, clothing and services for their infants and children. The company has previously donated clothing and cash to the charity.
Actress Tori Spelling also recently made a large donation to a similar organization.
On the season finale of her reality show, Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood, Spelling threw herself a star-studded baby shower and asked guests to bring donations for Los Angeles-based charity Baby2Baby, which distributes new and used baby gear to local families in need.
Other charitable celebrity moms include Jessica Alba, Nicole Richie, Jessica Seinfeld, Tiffani Thiessen, Busy Philipps and Soleil Moon Frye.
Families who do not qualify to receive baby equipment, clothing and toys from charity can save money on everything they need by shopping at stores that specialize in selling used items.
